Abilene Christian’s offense struggled in a 6-0 loss to Oklahoma State at La Moderna Field. Although the Wildcats stayed competitive early in the game, a big sixth inning by the Cowboys broke the contest wide open, marking ACU’s fifth loss of the season.
Starting pitcher Chandler Benson took the mound for ACU, pitching three innings. He gave up two runs on four hits, including a two-run home run in the third inning. Benson also struck out two batters but was relieved by David Jeon, who threw two hitless innings and struck out five batters in a strong outing.
Despite matching Oklahoma State’s six hits, the Wildcats could not capitalize on scoring chances. ACU’s best opportunities came in the fifth and sixth innings, but a series of strikeouts and defensive plays from the Cowboys prevented any runs from crossing the plate.
Diego Cardenas led the Wildcats offensively, going 2-for-4 with a double. Braden Regala also contributed with a 2-for-3 performance. Nick Arias and Holden Rook each added a hit, with Rook also reaching base after being hit by a pitch. However, the Wildcats struck out 11 times and left seven runners on base in a frustrating night at the plate.
With the loss, ACU’s record drops to 3-5. The Wildcats will look to rebound as they return home for a four-game series against University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Crutcher Scott Field this weekend, with a doubleheader scheduled for Saturday. First pitch on Friday is at 6:05 p.m. (CT).
