Providence Park was home to Portland State football from 1967 to 2018, with the exception of the 2000 and 2010 seasons when the stadium underwent renovations. Over the years, the venue has been known by several names, including Multnomah Stadium, Civic Stadium, PGE Park, and JELD-WEN Field. While the Vikings have since moved to Hillsboro Stadium, they will return to Providence Park for the November 15 game.

Portland State University President Ann Cudd shared her enthusiasm about the return, stating, “Vikings Football has always been an exciting fall pastime. Playing in the heart of our city opens up new possibilities for connection. I can’t wait for the kickoff in November.”

In addition to football, Providence Park has hosted a variety of events, including concerts and rugby tournaments. Last year, the stadium welcomed 30,000 fans for Foo Fighters and Green Day concerts, with Post Malone and Jelly Roll slated for a performance in June. The stadium also hosted the 2024 PR7s All-Star Tournament, drawing nearly 5,000 rugby fans.

Portland State’s Director of Athletics, Matt Billings, expressed his excitement, saying, “We are very happy to bring our football team back downtown and play a top opponent at Providence Park this fall. We appreciate the partnership with the Portland Timbers.”
