India dominated the Uganda International Challenge 2025 in Kampala, with three titles secured in men’s singles, mixed doubles, and men’s doubles events on Sunday.
In the men’s singles final, world No. 106 Manraj Singh triumphed over Azerbaijan’s 130th-ranked Dicky Dwi Pangestu with a 21-10, 17-21, 21-18 victory. Seeded seventh, Singh took just over an hour to defeat the eighth-seeded Pangestu. This win adds to his earlier success at the Iran Fajr International Challenge earlier this year.
The mixed doubles final featured an all-Indian showdown. Seventh-seeded Ishaan Bhatnagar and Srinidhi Narayanan faced Dhruv Rawat and Maneesha K. Bhatnagar and Narayanan claimed the victory after Rawat and Maneesha retired due to injury. The Indian duo was leading 9-3 in the second game, having won the first 21-18. Bhatnagar and Narayanan had also previously won the Iran Fajr International Challenge together.
In the men’s doubles, India’s top-seeded pair Dingku Singh Konthoujam and Amaan Mohammad staged a thrilling comeback after dropping the first game to defeat fifth seeds Akshan Shetty and Sankar Prasad Udayakumar 14-21, 21-15, 21-17 in 42 minutes.
India’s strong performance at the Uganda International Challenge highlights the country’s rising prominence in international badminton.
