Dalibor Svrcina of Czechia won the singles title at the Maha Open 2025 tennis tournament in Pune on Sunday, defeating USA’s Brandon Holt 7(7)-6(3), 6-1. The unseeded Svrcina triumphed in a match that lasted 1 hour and 29 minutes.
After a tightly contested first set, Svrcina gained momentum and dominated the second, striking powerful winners to seal a comfortable victory.
The 22-year-old Svrcina has had a strong showing in his recent ATP Challenger events in India. He reached the semi-finals in Chennai and the second round in Delhi before clinching his first Challenger title in Pune.
As the winner, Svrcina earned 100 ATP Ranking points, while runner-up Brandon Holt received 60 points.
Svrcina’s journey to the final included a hard-fought win over Khumoyun Sultanov of Uzbekistan in the semi-finals. Svrcina prevailed 6(6)-7(8), 6-0, 3-1 (ret.) after Sultanov retired due to breathlessness and fatigue caused by the heat.
In the other semi-final, Holt overcame eighth-seeded Alexis Galarneau of Canada 7-5, 6-4 to set up the final clash with Svrcina.
In the doubles event, India’s Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Vijay Sundar Prashanth claimed their first title together with a 3-6, 6-3, 10-0 win over second-seeded Australians Blake Bayldon and Matthew Christopher Romios.
