The Bison (17-9, 9-4 Summit) built a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter before the Pioneers (8-18, 1-12 Summit) mounted a late comeback. Denver went on an 8-0 run, cutting the deficit to 61-59 with 35 seconds left, thanks to a three-pointer from Coryn Watts. But Abbie Draper responded for NDSU, scoring a layup and a free throw in the final seconds to seal the win.
Draper led the Bison with a career-high 28 points, marking her second 20-point game of the season. She shot 9-of-16 from the field and 9-of-11 from the free-throw line. Draper also recorded a career-high 14 rebounds, earning her third double-double of the year. Miriley Simon added nine points and four rebounds off the bench, while Abby Schulte contributed eight points and five steals.
As a team, NDSU shot 41.1% (23-56) from the field and 78.9% (15-19) from the free-throw line. The Bison grabbed a season-high 44 rebounds, with nine players contributing at least one.
NDSU will return to action on Saturday against Oral Roberts, with tip-off set for 12:00 p.m.
