The Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) continues to strengthen its efforts to develop high-performing football nations. A recent visit to the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) has further boosted the country’s progress toward becoming a high-performance organization.
OFC’s Chief Operating Officer, Frederic Guillemont, and Head of Member Association Services, Flavia Lopes, traveled to Honiara to conduct a detailed organizational review and leadership workshop with SIFF’s leadership and staff.
The visit supports OFC’s mission to empower Member Associations (MAs) by enhancing their leadership, operational efficiency, and strategic planning. The Solomon Islands Football Federation is experiencing significant growth as it strives to professionalize both on and off the pitch, with the OFC Professional League set to be a game-changer for the region.
“We want to define our identity as a football organization—our values, strengths, and areas for improvement,” said SIFF President Donald Marahare. “This workshop has given us a clearer vision of our future and what needs to be done to raise the Federation to new heights.”
Lopes described the workshop as a success, with SIFF leadership and staff showing strong engagement and motivation to refine their structures and improve efficiency.
One key outcome of the visit was the creation of an action plan that highlights priority areas for SIFF to focus on as it moves forward in its journey toward a high-performance culture.
“This collaboration marks an important step in our mission to strengthen football management in Oceania. The enthusiasm of SIFF’s leadership and staff was clear, and we believe that with the right structures in place, the Federation will continue to grow both on and off the pitch,” said Guillemont.
The visit is part of OFC’s ongoing Capacity Building Programme, which offers tailored services to MAs. The programme includes an Executive Programme for General Secretaries, a Football Management certificate and diploma, and the Corporate Management Framework to support MAs in coaching, mentoring, and management.
OFC is committed to mentoring and supporting SIFF as it works to implement its action plan and ensure long-term success for football in the Solomon Islands.
