KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women’s tennis team is set for a busy weekend, traveling to Indiana University on Friday for a 1 p.m. match against the Hoosiers before returning home to host Eastern Illinois on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
The Broncos recently split a pair of home matches. They suffered a 7-0 defeat to Youngstown State but bounced back with a 5-2 win over Cleveland State on Sunday. Western Michigan holds a 1-2 record on the road this season, with its only victory coming in a 4-0 shutout at Valparaiso.
Indiana University started the spring season strong, winning their first three matches. However, they have since lost four straight matches to Virginia Tech, Marshall, and Xavier. Six of the Hoosiers’ seven matches this season have been played at home.
Eastern Illinois enters Sunday’s match with a 2-7 record, having lost their last four contests. The Panthers will first play Eastern Michigan on Saturday before traveling to Kalamazoo. All of Eastern Illinois’ matches this season have been away from home, with six on the road and three at neutral sites.
Following this weekend, the Broncos will travel to the University of Illinois next Saturday for a doubleheader, facing Illinois at 10 a.m. and Chicago State at 4 p.m. Western Michigan will return home for another doubleheader on Saturday, March 8, against UIC and Oakland, starting at 11 a.m.
