St Mirren Mourns the Passing of Club Legend and Former Captain Cammy Murray

St Mirren Football Club is saddened to announce the passing of former captain Cammy Murray.

A true legend of the club, Cammy played as a defender during his time at St Mirren. He joined the club from Drumchapel Amateurs in 1962 and made his debut in a 3-3 draw against Hibernian at Love Street.

Over the course of 10 years with the Buddies, Cammy made 417 appearances for the club and was a key member of the 1967-68 Second Division Championship-winning team.

Between August 1964 and April 1967, he set a club record by playing 131 consecutive matches across all competitions. He also holds the record for the most consecutive league appearances, with 170 matches in a row from August 1962 to April 1967.

After leaving St Mirren, Cammy played for Motherwell before finishing his career at Arbroath.

In 2019, Cammy was inducted into St Mirren’s Hall of Fame in recognition of his exceptional service to the club.
