Hamilton and Asay Among 2025 Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame Inductees

The Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame has announced its 2025 class of inductees, featuring six honorees, including Baseball Canada’s Director of Men’s National Teams, Greg Hamilton, and two-time Women’s Baseball National Team MVP, Amanda Asay. Greg Hamilton, a former Princeton University athlete in both baseball and hockey, has been pivotal in shaping Baseball Canada’s Men’s National Teams. As the head coach and director, Hamilton transformed the Junior National Team, making it a globally recognized program. His leadership has helped produce numerous successful players, including former MLB stars such as Justin Morneau, Jason Bay, Russell Martin, and Josh Naylor. Under Hamilton’s guidance, Canada has secured multiple international accolades, including gold medals at the 2011 and 2015 Pan American Games, as well as silver and bronze finishes at the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup.

“Hamilton has had an immeasurable impact on Canadian baseball for over three decades,” said Baseball Canada CEO Jason Dickson.

Amanda Asay, who tragically passed away in 2022 at the age of 34 following a skiing accident, was recognized for her incredible achievements on the field. A standout hitter and pitcher, Asay played a key role in seven WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cups, winning three bronze and two silver medals. She was also instrumental in helping Canada secure a silver medal at the 2015 Pan American Games, marking the first time women’s baseball was featured in the event. Asay’s contributions to the sport were recognized with two MVP honors, in 2006 and 2016. Baseball Canada honored her legacy by retiring her #19 jersey later that year.

The 2025 inductee list also includes José Bautista, a six-time MLB All-Star who still holds the Toronto Blue Jays’ single-season home run record, and Érik Bédard, a former MLB pitcher who represented Canada in the 2006 World Baseball Classic.

Arleene Noga, who passed away in 2017, was an influential player in the All American Girls Professional Baseball League, earning the nickname “Iron Lady” after playing over 300 consecutive games. Gerry Snyder, a key figure in Montreal’s push to bring Major League Baseball to Canada, also earned posthumous recognition.

The induction ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 7, in St. Marys, Ontario, honoring these outstanding individuals for their lasting impact on Canadian baseball.
