February 14 marks the much-anticipated start of the 2025 college baseball season, and for North Carolina fans, it’s a reason to celebrate. Not only is it Valentine’s Day, but it also signals the opening of the UNC Tar Heels’ baseball season at home. The team will face Texas Tech in a thrilling season opener at Boshamer Stadium, with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m. on Friday, February 14. The teams will continue their series with Saturday and Sunday afternoon matchups.
While UNC’s fanbase has always been strong in Chapel Hill, the team’s recent successes have put them on the map nationally. The Diamond Heels captured the ACC Regular Season Championship in 2014, thrilling fans with multiple walk-off victories during the NCAA Tournament, ultimately earning a spot in the College World Series.
In 2025, UNC will enjoy even more exposure with several games slated for national television broadcasts. The team’s first nationally-televised game will be on Sunday, March 16, when they face Louisville at 1 p.m. in the finale of their weekend series. Louisville, with 14 NCAA Tournament appearances since 2002, will be aiming for its first Regional appearance in three seasons.
The rivalry between UNC and Duke will be front and center when the two teams meet on Thursday, April 3, at 6 p.m., airing on the ACC Network. A week later, the Tar Heels will host Wake Forest for a 6 p.m. start, also on the ACC Network, followed by the series finale on April 12 at 2 p.m. on ESPNU.
The Diamond Heels will then head to Virginia Tech for a Sunday series finale on April 20 at 1 p.m., which will be broadcast on the ACC Network. UNC will close its regular-season ACC play with a crucial series at Florida State from May 15-17, with the opener scheduled for 2 p.m. on May 15.
