The Carlton Football Club has officially confirmed the appointment of Robert Priestley as its 32nd President, marking a new chapter in the Club’s leadership. Priestley ascends to the top role after serving as Co-Vice President alongside Patty Kinnersly since 2022.
This leadership change reflects the Club’s continued dedication to stability and progress, as outlined in its United by Navy Blue strategic plan. This initiative has already led to impressive achievements, including record membership numbers, league-leading attendances, strong commercial growth, and enhanced infrastructure—all contributing to the Club’s current success and promising future.
Priestley, who brings nearly four decades of experience in the financial services sector, currently serves as Chairman of J.P. Morgan Australia and New Zealand. His career spans multiple regions, including Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific, making him one of the most highly regarded business executives in the country. Known for his collaborative leadership style and commitment to building strong, values-driven organizations, Priestley is widely respected for his character and unwavering focus on continuous improvement.
In a message to Carlton members, Priestley expressed his pride in taking on the role of President and emphasized the importance of maintaining a united and stable environment at the Club. “From a very young age, watching the reserves and seniors with my grandfather, father, and brothers at IKON Park, Carlton has always given me a strong sense of belonging,” he said. “It is a privilege to receive this opportunity, and I do not take it for granted.”
Priestley stressed the importance of a unified culture at the Club as key to its long-term success. “We are united, inclusive, and values-led. The strength of our community, unified by a Stronger Together mindset and a common goal, is how we reach the level we aspire to,” he added.
As part of the transition, Patty Kinnersly will continue in her role as Vice-President, contributing to the Club’s dynamic and skills-based Board.
The Carlton Football Club Board of Directors for the 2025 season includes:
President: Robert Priestley
Vice-President: Patty Kinnersly
