Emma Raducanu is poised to make a significant impact in 2025, drawing inspiration from NBA legend Kobe Bryant. The British tennis star recently shared a motivational quote from Bryant, emphasizing her commitment to pushing through challenges in pursuit of her goals. Since late 2024, Raducanu has expressed her determination to compete more vigorously this year and elevate her performance on the court.
In a bid to enhance her athletic prowess, Raducanu has enlisted the help of Yutaka Nakamura, the former fitness coach of Maria Sharapova. She has expressed confidence in her potential, stating that she could become one of the top athletes on the WTA Tour. However, her start to the 2025 season has been less than ideal. After missing the Auckland tournament due to a back injury, she faced a tough defeat against Iga Swiatek in the third round of the Australian Open, losing 6-1, 6-0.
Despite this challenging setback, Raducanu remains undeterred and focused on her aspirations for the year. Reflecting on her loss to Swiatek, she acknowledged the harsh scoreline but emphasized her intent to learn from the experience. “I think it was a little bit of her playing well and me not playing so well,” Raducanu stated, recognizing the need for improvement. Looking ahead, she is set to return to competition at the WTA 250 tournament in Singapore next week, ready to apply the lessons learned and continue her journey in the sport.
