Italian soccer club Lazio has terminated the employment of Juan Bernabé, the falconer responsible for the club’s eagle mascot, following his controversial social media posts featuring explicit images of his prosthetic penis. Bernabé, who recently underwent surgery for the implant for personal reasons, shared these photos and videos on his private accounts, prompting outrage from the club.
In an interview with the contentious Italian radio show La Zanzara, Bernabé expressed pride in his decision to undergo the procedure, stating that it made him feel “more masculine” and enhanced his identity as part of Lazio. However, the club swiftly distanced itself from Bernabé, issuing a statement that condemned his actions as serious misconduct. “Shocked to see the photographic images and video of Mr. Juan Bernabé and to read the statements that accompanied them, Lazio announces that it has stopped, with immediate effect, all relationship with this person,” the statement read.
