Grohs Returns to Training After Tumor Treatment

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Mala Grohs has resumed training following her treatment for a malignant tumor, the club announced on Tuesday. The 23-year-old athlete had taken an indefinite leave of absence starting in November to concentrate on her recovery, during which Bayern Munich extended her contract as a gesture of support.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Bayern Munich confirmed that Grohs has successfully participated in parts of team training and will continue to focus on her rehabilitation in the upcoming weeks. This positive development marks a significant step in her journey back to full fitness.

In December, Grohs shared her experience on Instagram, revealing that she had undergone surgery and posted an image showing the scar on her neck. Since joining Bayern in 2019, she has been a pivotal player, featuring in all of the team’s matches in the Women’s Champions League this season prior to her leave. Grohs was also called up to the German national team last year but had to withdraw due to a tonsil operation, delaying her senior international debut.
