Emma Raducanu will face Russia’s Ekaterina Alexandrova in the opening round of the Australian Open, despite dealing with a minor back injury. The former US Open champion has been eliminated in the second round in each of the past three years. If she progresses to the third round, Raducanu could potentially meet No. 2 seed Iga Swiatek.
British No. 1 Katie Boulter, seeded No. 22 for the first time, will play Canada’s Rebecca Marino. Boulter aims to make her best run at the Grand Slam, having previously reached only the second round in Melbourne.
In the men’s draw, 15th seed Jack Draper hopes to recover from a hip injury in time to face Argentina’s Mariano Navone. Draper is in the same side of the draw as Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, with the pair potentially meeting in the fourth round.
Meanwhile, British prospect Jacob Fearnley will face Nick Kyrgios in the Australian’s highly anticipated return to tennis.
