With Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving sidelined due to injury, several players on the Dallas Mavericks have stepped up. On Tuesday night, the Mavs secured a 21-point win over the Lakers, thanks in part to contributions from key players like P.J. Washington. However, the standout performances came from players with low ownership in fantasy leagues.
Spencer Dinwiddie, rostered in just 18% of Yahoo leagues, returned to the starting lineup and delivered 19 points, six rebounds, and eight assists in 35 minutes. Quentin Grimes, available in 71% of leagues, played 29 minutes off the bench, scoring 23 points with nine rebounds, six assists, and hitting six 3-pointers. This marked his third consecutive game with at least six assists, adding strong value to his fantasy profile.
With Irving expected to miss at least two more games and Dončić out for several weeks, both Dinwiddie and Grimes are must-roster players in the short term. Even once Irving returns, both could continue to offer value as streamers.
Here are six more players worth considering after Tuesday’s slate:
SF Jaime Jaquez Jr. (32% rostered, Miami Heat)
Jaquez followed up his triple-double on Monday with 18 points in a win over the Warriors. With Jimmy Butler away, Jaquez has seen increased usage and should continue to play a significant role until Butler returns or a trade reshapes the team.
PF/C Nikola Jovic (23% rostered, Miami Heat)
Like Jaquez, Jovic has stepped up with Butler sidelined. He has posted double-digit points in three straight games, including a 20-point, six-rebound, four-assist performance on Tuesday. Jovic’s recent play makes him a strong fantasy pickup.
PG/SG Bub Carrington (13% rostered, Washington Wizards)
Carrington has been handling a heavy load as the starting point guard in the absence of Jordan Poole and Malcolm Brogdon. He posted 12 points, four rebounds, five assists, and four 3-pointers on Tuesday. With Poole and Brogdon potentially missing the second game of a back-to-back on Wednesday, Carrington should continue to deliver solid numbers.
SG/SF Justin Champagnie (19% rostered, Washington Wizards)
Although Champagnie came off the bench on Tuesday, he started the second half after Kyle Kuzma’s early exit. If Kuzma remains out, Champagnie would be a solid streaming option, as he has had some strong performances when starting.
C Mason Plumlee (8% rostered, Phoenix Suns)
Plumlee has taken over the starting center role from Jusuf Nurkic. While his scoring has been limited, he has provided a solid rebounding presence, grabbing at least five rebounds in six consecutive games, including 13 on Tuesday. Plumlee can also contribute with assists and defensive stats, but his consistency in those areas has been spotty.
SF/PF Cam Whitmore (6% rostered, Houston Rockets)
With Tari Eason sidelined, Whitmore has been a reliable scorer and 3-point shooter. He has stepped up in the absence of Eason and Jabari Smith Jr., providing consistent points. However, he hasn’t contributed much outside of scoring, so fantasy managers should temper expectations if they add him.
