The Cincinnati Bengals will face a critical regular-season finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers without their leading rusher, Chase Brown, who has been ruled out due to a sprained ankle.Brown sustained the injury during an overtime victory against the Denver Broncos in Week 17 and did not participate in practice throughout the week. He finishes the season with 990 rushing yards and 11 combined touchdowns. Despite being listed as questionable on the final injury report, the Bengals confirmed his absence for Saturday night’s game.
Khalil Herbert is expected to start in Brown’s place as the Bengals (8-8) aim to extend their winning streak to five games. To secure a playoff spot, Cincinnati needs a victory over Pittsburgh, coupled with losses from Miami and Denver on Sunday.
In addition to Brown, several other Bengals will also be inactive, including defensive end Sam Hubbard, wide receiver Charlie Jones, defensive end Isaiah Thomas, offensive tackle Andrew Stueber, wide receiver Jermaine Burton, and tight end Tanner McLachlan.
On the other side, the Steelers will be without starting cornerback Donte Jackson, who is sidelined with a back injury. Jackson, who leads Pittsburgh with five interceptions, will be replaced by Cory Trice.Pittsburgh will also miss quarterback Kyle Allen, wide receiver Scotty Miller, defensive end Isaiah Lowdermilk, and defensive end Dean Lowry as they look to avoid entering the playoffs on a four-game losing streak.
