The University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team has earned the No. 4 spot in the 2025 AVCA preseason rankings, marking the eighth consecutive season the team has been ranked in the top five to start the year.
Hawaii ranks ahead of Ball State and follows UC Irvine, Long Beach State, and preseason No. 1 UCLA.
The Big West Conference is well-represented in the rankings, with all six of its teams in the top 18. Along with Hawaii, UC Irvine and Long Beach State, the list includes No. 15 CSUN, No. 16 UC Santa Barbara, and No. 18 UC San Diego, demonstrating the strength of the conference.
The Rainbow Warriors return eight players from last season, including starters Tread Rosenthal (setter), Kurt Nusterer (middle blocker), and Eleu Choy (libero/defensive specialist). The team also welcomes 11 newcomers, with several expected to make an immediate impact, such as Adrien Roure (outside hitter), Kristian Titrisky (opposite), Ofek Hazan (middle blocker), and Finn Kearney (outside/opposite hitter).
Head coach Charlie Wade, entering his 16th season, has led UH to six NCAA Tournament appearances in the past decade. Wade, a two-time national champion, also guided the team to Big West Tournament titles in 2019, 2022, and 2023.
Hawaii will begin the 2025 season with matches against McKendree on Friday and Sunday at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
