“This is the time to handle every detail meticulously. Hosting the FIVB Men’s World Championship for the first time—and as the sole host—requires a level of excellence bordering on perfection,” said Tats Suzara, PNVF and Asian Volleyball Confederation president, in a press release.

Suzara, also the executive vice president of the FIVB, is confident the Philippines can replicate the success of the FIBA World Cup 2023.

“We’ve proven ourselves capable before, and we are expected to do it again,” Suzara added.

Competitive Pool Lineup for Alas Pilipinas

Alas Pilipinas will compete in Pool A against 11-time African champion Tunisia, reigning Africa titlist and Paris Olympian Egypt, and the 2024 Asian Championship runner-up Iran.

Other pools feature similarly strong competition. World No. 1 Poland leads Pool B, joined by Romania, Qatar, and The Netherlands. Volleyball Nations League champion France is in Pool C with Korea, Finland, and Argentina. Pool D includes the United States, Colombia, Portugal, and 2010 silver medalist Cuba.

Slovenia heads Pool E, alongside Chile, Bulgaria, and 2014 bronze medalist Germany. Reigning 2022 world champion Italy takes on Pool F with Algeria, Belgium, and Ukraine, while Pool G features Libya, 2023 European League winner Türkiye, and Canada. Pool H is led by Brazil, joined by 2024 Challenge Cup winner China, the Czech Republic, and Serbia.

The PNVF aims to provide a world-class experience, marking a historic milestone for volleyball in the Philippines.
