Aston Villa Loses Appeal on Duran’s Red Card

Aston Villa has announced that its appeal to overturn Jhon Duran’s red card from the match against Newcastle has been unsuccessful. The 21-year-old Colombian international received his marching orders just 32 minutes into the Premier League clash at St. James’ Park on Thursday, following an incident where he appeared to stamp on defender Fabian Schar. The dismissal led to a strong reaction from Villa head coach Unai Emery, who subsequently confirmed that the club would challenge the decision.

However, in a statement released on Friday night, Aston Villa confirmed that the appeal had been rejected, meaning Duran will serve a three-match ban for violent conduct.
