Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta announced that Bukayo Saka is expected to be out of action until at least March after undergoing surgery on his hamstring.
The news comes after Arsenal secured a 1-0 victory against Ipswich in their first match without the England winger, who sustained a right hamstring injury during a 5-1 triumph over Crystal Palace last weekend. With this win, Arsenal climbed to second place in the Premier League, maintaining pressure on league leaders Liverpool.
Arteta had initially indicated that the 23-year-old Saka would be unavailable for “many weeks.” However, following the match against Ipswich, he provided a more extended timeline for Saka’s recovery.
“He has had a procedure and everything went well, but unfortunately he will be out for many, many weeks,” Arteta stated. “It will be more than two months. I don’t know exactly how much longer. It will depend on how the scar tissue starts to heal in the first week or so, and the mobility of that. It is very difficult to say.”
