Novak Djokovic will pursue his 11th Australian Open title in January, building on a remarkable history at the tournament where he has claimed nine championships from 2011 to 2023. Djokovic, who has established himself as a dominant force in the season’s first Grand Slam, boasts an impressive record of 94 wins and just nine losses since his debut in 2005. He secured his first title in Melbourne in 2008 and has since become the most decorated player in the tournament’s history.
In 2023, Djokovic captured his tenth Australian Open title, defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final. This victory placed him alongside Rafael Nadal as the only player to win ten titles at a single Grand Slam event and brought his total Major titles to 22. However, Djokovic faced an unexpected setback in 2024 when he reached the semifinals but lost to fourth-ranked Jannik Sinner in a challenging match, finishing with scores of 6-1, 6-2, 6-7, 6-3. This marked the first time Djokovic failed to generate a break point in a completed match at a Major.
Despite the defeat, Djokovic remains focused on reclaiming his title. He will debut a new look at this year’s tournament, sporting a light blue Lacoste polo shirt with a darker blue design, complemented by blue shorts and shoes. His signature blue wristband completes the outfit.
To bolster his chances, Djokovic has welcomed Andy Murray to his coaching team, hoping for another strong performance at his most successful event. As the seventh seed, he may face tough competition, including potential matchups against Sinner, Alexander Zverev, or Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals. Djokovic has expressed confidence in his preparations and is determined to chase his 25th Major title.
