Packers Beat Seahawks 30-13 Smith Injured

In a crucial matchup for playoff positioning, Romeo Doubs caught two touchdown passes from Jordan Love, leading the Green Bay Packers to a 30-13 victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night. The win ended Seattle’s four-game winning streak and brought the Packers closer to securing a postseason spot.

Love threw for 229 yards, completing 20 of 27 passes, while Doubs, returning from a concussion, recorded three catches for 40 yards. His second touchdown, a spectacular grab while falling to the ground under tight coverage from Seattle’s Devon Witherspoon, came with 4:59 remaining in the game and sparked loud “Go Pack Go!” chants from the visiting fans at Lumen Field.

“We felt like we weren’t executing at a high level earlier in the game,” Love said. “To finish that drive with a touchdown was definitely a relief.”

Packers running back Josh Jacobs contributed significantly, rushing for 94 yards and a touchdown, while Brandon McManus added three field goals. The Packers improved to 10-4 on the season, having won eight of their last ten games.

The Seahawks, now 8-6, faced a setback when quarterback Geno Smith left the game in the third quarter due to a knee injury after being hit low by Packers linebacker Edgerrin Cooper. Smith, who completed 15 of 19 passes for 149 yards and an interception, was replaced by Sam Howell, who struggled, going 5 of 14 for 24 yards and another interception.

Seattle’s playoff hopes took a hit with Smith’s injury, which will be evaluated with scans on Monday. Coach Mike Macdonald noted that Smith’s knee appeared structurally sound. The Seahawks now find themselves in a tie for first place in the NFC West with the Los Angeles Rams.

“We know what type of team we are and what our goals are,” said Seahawks linebacker Ernest Jones IV. “Winning the division and getting into the playoffs is what we set out to do.”

The Packers dominated the first half, scoring on all four of their possessions and taking a 20-3 lead into halftime. Jacobs opened the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run, followed by Love’s 13-yard touchdown pass to Doubs, who celebrated by waving at a television camera.

The Seahawks managed to narrow the gap with a 48-yard field goal from Jason Myers, but McManus responded with a 38-yarder for Green Bay. Smith’s interception in the end zone, thrown to Carrington Valentine, marked his 13th of the season and fourth in the red zone.

Seattle showed signs of life in the fourth quarter with a 24-yard touchdown run from Zach Charbonnet, bringing the score to 23-13. However, Doubs’ second touchdown sealed the game for the Packers.

This victory marked Green Bay’s first win at Lumen Field since 2008, and both Coach Matt LaFleur and Love expressed surprise at the number of Packers fans in attendance and their vocal support.

“This is a tough place to play, and I was shocked to hear our fans so loud while our defense was on the field,” LaFleur said.
