The Kansas City Chiefs are set to welcome back kicker Harrison Butker for their upcoming game against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, after he missed four games due to knee surgery. However, the team will be without left tackle D.J. Humphries, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury.
On Saturday, the Chiefs activated Butker from injured reserve and waived fellow kicker Matthew Wright, who had filled in for the past two games. Wright successfully converted 8 of 9 field goals and made both of his extra points, including a crucial 31-yard game-winner last week against the Chargers. Prior to his surgery on his left, non-kicking knee, Butker had an impressive record of 18 of 20 on field goals and 21 of 22 on extra points.
Humphries was listed as doubtful on Friday’s injury report but was downgraded to out on Saturday. This leaves the Chiefs likely relying on Wanya Morris or Kingsley Suamataia to protect quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ blind side.
Additionally, the Chiefs elevated linebacker Swayze Bozeman and tight end Anthony Firkser from the practice squad for Sunday’s matchup.
