Jack Sock has hinted at a potential return from retirement to partner with Nick Kyrgios in doubles, as the Australian prepares to make his comeback after missing nearly two seasons due to knee and wrist surgeries. Sock, a former top-10 singles player and a four-time Grand Slam champion in doubles, last played professionally at the 2023 US Open. Since then, the 32-year-old has transitioned to pickleball but remains engaged in professional sports.
Recently, Sock, along with fellow former American tennis stars John Isner, Steve Johnson, and Sam Querrey, launched a podcast titled “Nothing Major.” In a recent episode, they welcomed James Blake, the former world No. 4 and current tournament director of the Miami Open.
During the conversation, Sock playfully inquired about the possibility of receiving a wildcard for doubles at the Miami Open, saying, “Nick Kyrgios and I might be asking for a wildcard into doubles of your event here in a few months.” Blake responded with a diplomatic tone, stating, “It will be considered. You guys have a pretty good chance! You could sell some tickets.”
Sock and Kyrgios have previously teamed up in doubles, achieving notable success together, including titles at the 2018 Lyon Open and the 2022 Washington Open. Their partnership has been strong, boasting a 19-4 record, and they reached the semifinals at Masters events in Rome (2015) and Madrid (2017). The duo’s last tournament together was their victory in Washington in 2022.
As the 2025 Miami Open approaches in March, it remains to be seen whether Sock and Kyrgios will officially request a wildcard to compete together once again.
