Brighton & Hove Albion has announced the signing of 21-year-old midfielder Diego Gomez from Inter Miami, with the transfer set to be finalized on January 1.
While the club did not disclose the transfer fee or contract length, Gomez, who joined Inter Miami in 2023, played a key role in helping the MLS team reach the playoffs this season.
“Diego is a dynamic midfielder capable of contributing both goals and assists. We believe his physical attributes will be vital as he adapts to the demands of the Premier League,” said David Weir, Brighton’s technical director.
Gomez represented Paraguay at the Paris Olympics this summer and has made a significant impact at both club and international levels. Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler acknowledged that while Gomez may need time to adjust to the Premier League, he is confident in the player’s potential to make a substantial contribution.
Currently, Brighton sits seventh in the Premier League standings and is in contention for Champions League qualification next season.
