Kylian Mbappe marked a significant milestone by scoring his 50th Champions League goal during Real Madrid’s 3-2 victory over Atalanta on Tuesday. However, his achievement was overshadowed by an apparent injury that forced him to leave the match in the first half.
The French striker showcased his skill in the 10th minute, expertly controlling a pass from Brahim Diaz with his left foot. He then maneuvered past a defender and fired a right-footed shot into the far corner, giving Madrid an early 1-0 lead.
At just 25 years and 356 days old, Mbappe is now the second-youngest player to reach the 50-goal milestone in Champions League history, following Lionel Messi, who accomplished the feat at 24 years and 284 days in 2012. Mbappé achieved this landmark in 79 matches, making him the fourth fastest to reach the mark, behind Ruud van Nistelrooy (62 games), Messi (66), and Robert Lewandowski (77).
Cristiano Ronaldo holds the record for the most goals in Champions League history with 140, while Messi follows with 129.
Mbappe’s night took a disappointing turn when he exited the game with a leg issue later in the first half, paving the way for Rodrygo to take his place.
