FIFA announced on Tuesday that the 2027 Women’s World Cup will take place in Brazil from June 24 to July 25.This tournament marks the first time the Women’s World Cup will be held in South America, featuring 32 teams competing for the title. As the host nation, Brazil secures one of CONMEBOL’s three allocated spots in the tournament.
The distribution of slots includes 11 for UEFA, six for the AFC, four each for CAF and CONCACAF, and one for OFC. The remaining spots will be filled through playoffs.
Spain enters the tournament as the defending champion, having won the 2023 Women’s World Cup, which was co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
FIFA is set to announce the host cities and stadiums in Brazil for the tournament next year. Twelve bids have been submitted, including several stadiums that were used during the 2014 Men’s World Cup.
