Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson has been ruled out for Sunday’s crucial matchup against the New York Giants.Richardson missed practice on Thursday and Friday due to back and foot injuries. Initially listed as questionable, he was downgraded to out on Saturday.
With a record of 7-8, the Colts face a challenging path to the playoffs, needing to win their remaining games while also relying on outside help.
Richardson’s absence is expected to pave the way for Joe Flacco to start in his place. Flacco, a New Jersey native who will turn 40 on January 16, has thrown for 1,167 yards and nine touchdowns in six games this season, including four starts, but has also recorded five interceptions.
The 22-year-old Richardson was drafted by Indianapolis with the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. This season, he has recorded 1,814 passing yards, eight touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
