AC Milan announced on Monday that U.S. midfielder Christian Pulisic has suffered a torn muscle in his right calf, an injury sustained during the first half of the team’s 2-1 defeat to Atalanta on Friday. Following an MRI, the club indicated that Pulisic could be sidelined until January.
To monitor his recovery, Pulisic will undergo another MRI in one week.
This season, Pulisic has been a standout player for Milan, contributing five goals and four assists in Serie A, along with three goals in the Champions League.
The U.S. national team does not have any official matches scheduled until March, when they face Panama in the CONCACAF Nations League semifinals. Pulisic may have the opportunity to return for the Italian Super Cup semifinal against Juventus in Saudi Arabia on January 3.
