Coco Gauff has made history as the highest-earning female athlete of 2024, surpassing $30 million in total earnings. The 20-year-old American tennis star joins the ranks of Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka as the only women to achieve this milestone in a single year. According to Sportico, Gauff earned $9.4 million from tournament prize money and an impressive $21 million from sponsorships, bringing her total earnings to $30.4 million.
Gauff’s earnings put her well ahead of fellow athletes, with freestyle skier Eileen Gu in second place, having earned $22.1 million. The top ten highest-earning female athletes also feature five other WTA stars: Iga Swiatek ($21.4 million), Zheng Qinwen ($20.6 million), Aryna Sabalenka ($17.7 million), Naomi Osaka ($15.9 million), and Emma Raducanu ($14.7 million).
Represented by Roger Federer’s agency, Gauff achieved this financial success despite not winning a Grand Slam title this year. In 2023, she earned $23 million, marking an increase of $8.3 million in 2024. Her significant earnings were bolstered by her victory at the 2023 US Open, which led to several new sponsorship and endorsement deals.
“Winning the US Open obviously attracts more brands. These commitments require a lot of work; people often underestimate the effort involved. It’s not just about posting a photo online; it can involve eight to ten-hour days of events and commitments,” Gauff explained in late 2023. “My team has helped me balance these opportunities while also prioritizing my mental health and love for the game.”
Gauff’s impressive roster of sponsorships includes major brands such as Rolex, New Balance, Barilla, Baker Tilly, Bose, and UPS.
