Trump Addresses Club World Cup Draw via Video

During the FIFA Club World Cup draw in Miami, President-elect Donald Trump shared a prerecorded video message, expressing enthusiasm for the sport’s growing popularity. “Soccer is going through the roof,” he stated.

Among the attendees at the event were Ivanka Trump, her husband Jared Kushner, and their son Theo, as they gathered to draw groups for the expanded 32-team tournament set to take place in the United States next year. The tournament will feature top clubs from around the world, including Spain’s Real Madrid, England’s Manchester City, and Lionel Messi’s Major League Soccer team, Inter Miami.

In his address, Trump praised FIFA President Gianni Infantino, saying, “I just want to say you’re led by a man named Gianni. I just know him as Gianni, and he’s a winner.” He expressed his hope to attend the tournament, saying, “I will try and be there if I can. We’ll see what happens.”

The Club World Cup is scheduled to run from June 15 to July 13 and will be held across 11 U.S. cities, with the tournament occurring every four years. Trump also highlighted the upcoming 2026 Men’s World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

“I want to say my highest regards in respect to Gianni. It’s an honor to be with you, and we’ll be with you very soon. We’re going to be watching the World Cup, very importantly, also very soon. I was very responsible, along with Gianni, in getting it. It’s going to be a fantastic thing,” Trump concluded.
