The Juan Soto sweepstakes remains the most significant storyline of the MLB offseason, with the star outfielder considering offers from several teams. Among the contenders, the Toronto Blue Jays have emerged as a strong candidate to secure Soto, who was previously viewed as a long shot for the team.
Recent reports from SNY’s Andy Martino indicate that there is a “widespread belief” among bidders that the Blue Jays will present the highest offer for Soto. MLB Network Radio’s Jim Duquette echoed this sentiment, stating, “You can’t rule out the Blue Jays. I’ve heard from many people that they think Toronto is going to be the highest bidder.”
In addition to the Blue Jays, other teams in the running include the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Red Sox, and New York Mets. Soto has already met with all these teams, including a notable meeting with the Blue Jays on November 15, which was described as “impressive” by Jon Heyman of the New York Post.
The Blue Jays have previously shown their willingness to make significant investments, having submitted a substantial offer for Shohei Ohtani last offseason before he ultimately chose to sign with the Dodgers, as reported by ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
As Soto evaluates his options, the Blue Jays are making a strong push to secure his services.
