Manchester United will begin its FA Cup title defense with a challenging away match against Arsenal in the third round, which features several compelling matchups between Premier League and lower league teams.
Noteworthy fixtures include Tamworth, one of only two non-league clubs in the draw, hosting Tottenham Hotspur, while Manchester City will take on Salford City, the club owned by members of Manchester United’s legendary “Class of 92,” including Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville.
Accrington Stanley, currently sixth from the bottom in League Two, faces a tough challenge as they travel to Premier League leaders Liverpool at Anfield. Chelsea will host Morecambe, who currently sit at the bottom of League Two.
The highlight of the draw is the encounter between the FA Cup’s two most successful clubs. Arsenal has won the trophy 14 times, while Manchester United has claimed it 13 times. Arsenal last lifted the cup in 2020, while United triumphed over City in the FA Cup final last season, marking their second consecutive victory in the Manchester derby.
The third round matches are scheduled for the weekend of January 11-12, featuring 44 clubs from the Premier League and the Championship, along with 20 lower-league and non-league teams that advanced from the previous round.
