Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga suffered an injury during his team’s 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday and was substituted in the second half.
The France international experienced discomfort while pursuing the ball, abruptly pulling up and falling to the ground while clutching the back of his left leg, suggesting a hamstring injury.
After receiving brief treatment from the medical staff, the coaching staff signaled for a substitution, and Dani Ceballos replaced Camavinga in the 57th minute at Anfield. Although Camavinga managed to walk off the pitch, he was seen limping as he headed to the locker room.
This setback follows a challenging season for the 22-year-old, who was sidelined for extended periods due to knee injuries last year.
The defeat leaves Real Madrid at risk of early elimination from the newly formatted Champions League, as they currently sit 24th in the standings — the last playoff position for the round of 16, with only the top eight teams advancing automatically.
