SDSU USD Reach Summit League Volleyball Final

The top-seeded South Dakota State Jackrabbits overcame a 2-0 deficit against Denver, rallying to secure a thrilling 3-2 victory and advance to the Summit League Volleyball championship match on Tuesday night.

Sylvie Zgonc was instrumental in the Jackrabbits’ comeback, delivering a standout performance with 24 kills. Sydni Schetnan also made significant contributions, adding 16 kills and teaming up with Zgonc for the match-clinching block. The final set scores were 23-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-18, and 15-10 in favor of SDSU.

In the other semifinal, the University of South Dakota (USD) demonstrated their experience by sweeping second-seeded Omaha 3-0, with set scores of 25-19, 25-23, and 25-21. Lauren Medeck led the Coyotes with 11 kills, while Kylen Sealock added 8. Amanda Loschen played a crucial role, delivering key kills, including the decisive point in the final set.

The winner of the 7 p.m. match on Tuesday will earn the automatic qualifier spot from the Summit League. Should USD emerge victorious, SDSU, with an impressive 27-1 record, could still be in contention for an at-large bid to the postseason.
