Jenkins Becomes Grizzlies’ Winningest Coach

Taylor Jenkins has etched his name in Memphis Grizzlies history, becoming the franchise’s all-time winningest coach. With a 117-111 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night, Jenkins secured his 215th win in his sixth season at the helm, surpassing Lionel Hollins.

“It’s an unbelievable honor to be among the company of so many great coaches that have come before me,” Jenkins said after a celebratory locker room gathering with his team. “I always talk about the incredible responsibility of being the coach of this franchise. It’s a privilege and an honor.”

The Grizzlies’ coaching legacy includes notable figures such as Hubie Brown, Mike Fratello, Hollins, and current Detroit Pistons coach J.B. Bickerstaff.

Before joining the Grizzlies as head coach in June 2019, Jenkins held various roles with the San Antonio Spurs, Atlanta Hawks, and Milwaukee Bucks. He led the team to three consecutive postseason appearances until injuries disrupted the streak last year.

Guard Desmond Bane, who contributed 21 points in Wednesday’s win, praised Jenkins, calling him “the best coach in Memphis Grizzlies history.” Bane added, “He deserves it. He’s a humble guy. It was good for him to embrace this moment.”

While Jenkins appreciated the milestone, he quickly shifted his focus to the upcoming road game against the Chicago Bulls on Saturday. “It’s not about me at the end of the day,” he said. “We’ve got a lot more work to do. But I wake up every day being happy. It’s an absolute blessing to be in this position.”
