Guyana’s top female badminton player, Priyanna Ramdhani, and Trinidadian partner Chequeda DeBoulet earned a silver medal in the Women’s Doubles at the Suriname International in Paramaribo. The duo lost to Peruvian pair Ines Castillo and Namie Miyahira in the final, with a 0-2 defeat.
Ramdhani and DeBoulet fought hard in the first set but were beaten 16-21. The second set saw a similar outcome, with the pair losing 12-21.
Earlier in the competition, the pair reached the Women’s Doubles final with an impressive semi-final win over Suriname’s Leefmans and Yang. They won in straight sets, 21-8, 21-17, showing strong form on the court.
Ramdhani faced tougher challenges in other events. In the Women’s Singles, she lost to Peru’s Castillo, 21-6, 21-9, in the semi-finals, securing a bronze medal. In Mixed Doubles, Ramdhani and Akili Haynes had to retire from their semifinal match due to an ankle injury Haynes had sustained in practice. Despite the setback, they also earned a bronze medal.
