Wando Beats Summerville in Girls Volleyball, Advances to State Finals

In an impressive display on Monday night, the Wando girls volleyball team triumphed over Summerville in three straight sets at Wando High School. The scores were 25-19, 25-16, and 25-22 in the Lower State Championship.

This victory has set the stage for a rematch of last year’s 5A State Championship with the Dorman Cavaliers, who defeated the Warriors 3-1 in the previous season. The upcoming 5A-D1 State Championship game is slated for Thursday at Dreher High School in Columbia, which will mark Wando head coach Alexis Glover’s 15th state title appearance.

Coach Glover noted that last year’s loss in the state finals has served as motivation for this year’s squad. After the win against Summerville, she also commended the Green Wave’s performance. Meanwhile, Summerville had an excellent season, going undefeated in 5A – Region 8 and finishing 18-5 under first-year head coach Liz Yohe. The Warriors’ highly anticipated match against Dorman will kick off at 7 p.m. on Thursday night.
