“I love how our team celebrates for one another,” said head coach Ross Hodge. “Our guards have done a great job at grabbing rebounds. We’re a deep team, and giving all those guys experience while the game is still close was huge.”

Fourteen players saw action for UNT, with 12 of them scoring. Wright and Latrell Jossell were the only players in double figures, combining for 28 points. Freshmen Tyran Mason, Ma’syn Howell, and Brock Vice also made their debuts and scored their first career points.

Walker’s 10 rebounds led the team, marking the fourth time in his career that he has grabbed double-digit rebounds in a game.

Through the first two games, UNT has made 18 three-pointers at a 42% rate, grabbed 31 offensive rebounds, and recorded 26 assists. They also have a positive assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.2.

The last time UNT won by 40 or more points was on Nov. 26, 2020, when they defeated Mississippi Valley State 116-62. This is also the first time since 2020 that the Mean Green have scored 80 or more points in consecutive games.
