The third weekend of the Japanese women’s Daido Life SV.League saw two undefeated teams, Denso Airybees Koriyama and Osaka Marvelous, maintain their unbeaten records. Denso extended their winning streak to six consecutive victories, while Osaka won two more games to improve their win-loss record to 4-0, keeping their runner-up position in the table. On Sunday, Osaka’s outside hitter Kotona Hayashi led her team with 26 points, including two aces and a kill block, towards a 3-1 home win over Saga Hisamitsu Springs. On Saturday, Marvelous won 3-0 with three players, Hayashi, Belgian opposite Lise Van Hecke, and Saga’s Hungarian outside Greta Szakmary, sharing top scorer honours with 17 points each.
Denso Airybees Koriyama’s foreign players Rosamaria Montibeller and Amanda Coneo helped their team to a 3-1 home win over PFU BlueCats Ishikawa Kahoku on Saturday. Denso’s middle blocker Nanami Asano impressed with seven kill blocks in Sunday’s 3-1 win. Saitama Ageo Medics won two away victories over Gunma Green Wings to move up to third place in the table on 3-1 and 9. Defending champions NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki started their weekend with a 3-0 shutout over Queenseis Kariya, but then lost 3-1 in a nail-biting turnaround on Sunday.
Okayama Seagulls and Kurobe Aqua Fairies exchanged wins during their double header over the weekend. Toray Arrows Shiga secured their first two wins of the season as they hosted Aranmare Yamagata. Another six double headers are coming up next weekend, including a clash between undefeated Denso and Osaka.
