Borussia Dortmund is eager to secure its first away win of the season as they prepare to face Augsburg in the Bundesliga on Saturday. Coach Nuri Sahin believes that a victory could help the team find its rhythm after a rocky start to the season.
Dortmund is looking to rebound from a disappointing 5-2 loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League, where they initially led 2-0. Sahin noted that winning on the road would significantly boost the team’s confidence.
“It has to work now with an away game win,” Sahin said at a press conference. “It is an important game, especially considering the table. We need to stay in touch with the top spots.”
The team has struggled this season, failing to achieve back-to-back league victories and not winning any Bundesliga matches away from home. Currently, Dortmund sits in seventh place with 13 points, four points behind leaders Bayern Munich.
“Our demand is to get the three points and finally reward ourselves on the road,” Sahin stated.
The coach faced criticism after the recent loss in Spain, particularly regarding his tactical substitutions while the team was ahead, which allowed Real Madrid to score five goals in the second half.
“After the match against Real, we need to keep working and remain focused. Every day, every match, and every training session is crucial for our progress. We will continue on this path,” Sahin added.
He expressed hope that the team would soon find its flow, acknowledging that things have been inconsistent but emphasizing the need to accept the current situation. “Hopefully tomorrow it will work out,” he concluded.
