College Football Week 6: Missouri vs. Texas A&M Highlights, Other Key Games to Watch

This week in college football feels quieter compared to recent action, especially with only one Top 25 matchup. The headliner for Week 6 is No. 9 Missouri traveling to face No. 25 Texas A&M. It’s the first time this season we’ve had just one ranked matchup, marking the lowest since Week 3 of last season.

Last week’s drama still lingers. Fans were treated to thrilling finishes like the Miami-Virginia Tech game and the dramatic Alabama-Georgia conclusion. But even though there’s less fanfare this weekend, some key games loom large beyond the SEC showdown in College Station.

No. 12 Mississippi at South Carolina: Mississippi, coming off an upset loss to Kentucky, is in need of a rebound. South Carolina, which dismantled Kentucky by 25 points in Week 2, could be a tough road test for Mississippi.

No. 22 Louisville vs. SMU: Louisville has a tough game following its loss to Notre Dame, hosting a high-scoring SMU team.

No. 3 Ohio State vs. Iowa: Ohio State faces its toughest challenge yet when breakout star Kaleb Johnson leads Iowa into Ohio Stadium.

Texas Tech at Arizona: Texas Tech, who started the season strong despite low expectations, faces a test at Arizona.

Navy at Air Force: The Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy series kicks off with unbeaten Navy visiting a struggling Air Force.

Missouri, ranked No. 9, will face its first road challenge of the season at No. 25 Texas A&M. The Tigers have had some shaky performances, including a narrow escape against Boston College and a double-overtime win over Vanderbilt. After a bye week, they’re looking to address their issues in the red zone and on third downs.

Texas A&M, on the other hand, is riding a four-game winning streak since their tight loss to Notre Dame. Quarterback Marcel Reed has started the last three games, filling in for the injured Connor Weigman. Aggies coach Mike Elko has stated that Weigman’s status will be a game-time decision. Regardless of the starting quarterback, Texas A&M will face its toughest defensive opponent so far this season.

Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty is building his case for the Heisman Trophy. Jeanty is the leading rusher in the country and has twice gone over 200 yards in just four games. Last week, he posted 259 yards and four touchdowns against Washington State, with 234 of those yards coming after contact. He forced 17 missed tackles in that game alone.

While Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, Miami’s Cam Ward, and Colorado’s Travis Hunter still lead the Heisman conversation, Jeanty is climbing the odds, currently ranked fourth at 10-1. No Group of Five player has ever won the Heisman, and the last running back to take home the trophy was Alabama’s Derrick Henry in 2015.

Jeanty will have another opportunity to shine against Utah State’s struggling defense this weekend, and he could further boost his Heisman chances.
