The WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup 2024 is set to take place from September 6 to 15 at the Shaoxing Baseball and Softball Sports Culture Center in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province. As preparations intensify, power supply teams are ensuring everything runs smoothly. On Wednesday night, Zeng Menglong, an on-site liaison officer from State Grid Shaoxing Power Supply Company, carried out night patrols at the venue’s high-voltage distribution room, alongside his colleague.
Their task was to check the operating status of the switch lines after the nighttime loads at the venue were fully activated, ensuring the electrical systems were functioning properly.
The 2024 U-23 Baseball World Cup will feature 12 teams from five continents, competing for gold, silver, and bronze medals, as well as nine individual awards. This event marks the first time a city on the Chinese mainland has hosted the U-23 Baseball World Cup, making it one of the highest-profile events organized by the World Baseball Softball Confederation in China.
State Grid Shaoxing Power Supply Company has played a vital role in supporting the event. The company worked closely with the organizers to understand their electricity needs, developing tailored plans for each venue and power line. Following power supply standards set by the Asian Games, staff were deployed to monitor and patrol the competition sites, athlete accommodations, and nearby power supply lines. They also assisted with temporary facility access and coordinated with generator manufacturers to ensure emergency generators were tested, operated, and monitored on-site.
