The Vancouver Whitecaps have secured Scottish international Stuart Armstrong on a Designated Player contract through 2026. The 32-year-old midfielder, who was a free agent after six seasons with Southampton, joins the Whitecaps with 51 caps for Scotland, including stints at Euro 2020 and Euro 2024.
Whitecaps FC sporting director Axel Schuster praised Armstrong, highlighting his years of success at top levels in the UK and his international experience with Scotland. Schuster noted, “Armstrong brings valuable experience, tactical insight, positional flexibility, and a strong work ethic. His passing ability and elite chance creation will enhance our team’s offensive capabilities.”
Armstrong, who has previously won Scottish Premiership titles with Celtic, has also been named to the PFA Scotland Team of the Year three times.
