Iran’s men’s sitting volleyball team continued their dominant run at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, defeating Brazil in straight sets on Sunday. The match, held in Pool B, saw Iran overpower Brazil with scores of 25-12, 25-13, and 25-19.
This victory follows Iran’s opening match win against Ukraine, where they also secured a 3-0 victory. The team, known as Team Melli, will face Germany on Tuesday as they continue their pursuit of an eighth Paralympic gold medal.
Iran has a storied history in sitting volleyball, having won a record seven Paralympic titles, including the last two. Bosnia and Herzegovina, who are also competing in this year’s Games, have won two titles.
The preliminary round matches are being held from August 29 to September 3, with classification matches and semi-finals to follow. The bronze and gold medal matches are scheduled for September 6 and 7.
Iran’s mission in Paris is clear: to add another gold medal to their impressive collection of seven golds and two silvers from previous Paralympic Games.
