St Columba’s School has signed a three-year sponsorship deal with Birkmyre Rugby Club, extending its support to both the mini and senior sections of the club until spring 2027.
As part of the agreement, the school’s emblem will be prominently displayed on the mini players’ kits and the club’s post protectors. Additionally, the logo will feature on various components of the 1st XV’s training and match day gear.
This sponsorship further strengthens the existing relationship between the school and the rugby club, particularly in fostering U16 rugby talent. Many Birkmyre players are also part of the school team and regularly train with them.
The club expressed its appreciation to Ms. Reilly, the school rector, and Mr. Gordi Reid, the director of sport and PE, for their ongoing support.
Mr. Reid commented on the partnership, stating, “Many of our successful rugby players began their journey with Birkmyre Minis before joining St Columba’s. We are thrilled to sponsor Birkmyre Rugby Club, which brings valuable opportunities to both our school and the local community.”
He added, “It’s been rewarding to see how well the Birkmyre boys have integrated into the school setup, and how many former pupils are now representing the club’s 1st XV, who won their league last season.”
“A key aim of our extracurricular program is to encourage senior pupils to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle and stay involved in sports after they leave school. Birkmyre provides that opportunity right on our doorstep.”
