HICKMAN— The Calloway County Lady Lakers volleyball team secured a hard-fought victory on Monday night, traveling west to face Fulton County. In a competitive match, the Lady Lakers emerged victorious, winning in straight sets: 25-15, 25-19, 25-21.
The win brings Calloway County’s season record to 2-2, marking their second consecutive victory after dropping their first two matches. This was the season opener for Fulton County’s Lady Pilots, who put up a strong fight but ultimately fell short.
Senior Cambrey Driscoll led the charge for the Lady Lakers, showcasing her versatility and leadership. Driscoll dominated defensively with 20 of the team’s 48 digs and served up seven aces. Her performance was complemented by Kayden Patrick, who led the team with nine kills and contributed 13 digs. Hallie Thorn also made a significant impact, finishing with seven kills and four aces, while Taylor Holland matched her in aces. Addison Harpole added five kills to help secure the win.
The Lady Lakers aimed to push above a .500 record the following night as they faced a tough opponent in Community Christian Academy (CCA) in southern McCracken County. Despite taking one set from the Lady Warriors, Calloway County ultimately fell in four sets to a CCA team that remains undefeated this season with a 9-0 record after a strong 21-7 campaign last year.
