In a recent exhibition match ahead of the US Open, Iga Swiatek’s doubles partner, Sebastian Korda, made a surprising exit from the court mid-rally.
Swiatek, the WTA world No. 1, teamed up with Korda for the friendly match against Italian players Matteo Berrettini and Jasmine Paolini. During one particularly intense point, Korda and Paolini seemed more like spectators as Swiatek and Berrettini engaged in a fierce rally.
The exchange lasted 18 shots, with Swiatek eventually winning the point after Berrettini struggled to return her powerful forehand. By the end of the rally, Swiatek was alone on her side of the court, as Korda humorously walked off.
Korda’s departure was playful, suggesting that Swiatek was fully capable of handling the situation on her own. He quickly returned to congratulate Swiatek with an enthusiastic high five.
Despite their strong performance, Swiatek and Korda lost the exhibition match to Berrettini and Paolini, who emerged victorious.
