August 22, 2024 – Slinger, WI – The Slinger girls tennis team secured a narrow 4-3 victory against Watertown this week.
The team excelled in singles play, with all four singles players emerging victorious. Taylor Longdin and Natalie Stuettgen, competing at No. 2 and No. 3 singles respectively, dominated their matches with scores of 6-1, 6-1. Ryanna Bilgrien of Watertown made a push in the second set, but Rachel Olafsson sealed her win with a final score of 6-0, 6-3. Natalie Nickel, playing at No. 4 singles, maintained her undefeated record with a decisive 6-0, 6-1 win.
The highlight of the match was the No. 2 doubles pairing of Addison Gresbach and Megan Pfeifer. They engaged in a grueling two-hour contest, splitting sets 3-6, 7-5. The match was ultimately decided by a 10-point tiebreaker, which the Slinger duo won.
Looking ahead, Slinger High School will host the varsity county tournament on Saturday, starting at 8:30 a.m. The event will take place at their home courts, promising an exciting day of tennis.
